Riding a bike

As our society becomes more and more modernized and industrialized, our lives not only become more convenient but more busy. People nowadays may have less and less time doing exercise because of occupied with a lot of work. That’s one of the reasons why bicycles can become more and more popular. First of all, riding a bicycle is a good exercise. By riding a bike we can make our circulatory system, especially our heart and lungs, stronger, and make us become more muscular. Second, riding a bike can not only do exercise but sometimes arrive to the destination faster than driving a car. This is because bicycles won’t be trapped in traffic jam.

However, riding a bike is kind of dangerous. It is never too careful to watch out the condition of traffic when riding a bike on the busy street. Car accidents often happened while the car drivers speed up abruptly and hit the bicycle riders. Therefore, be sure to equip ourselves with proper safety riding outfits before we start to ride a bike.

Home

Home means a lot to me. “Be it ever so humble, there is no place like home.” I appreciate the warmth of my home, and regard it as one of the brightest and dearest spots on earth. It is the place where I can take refuge whenever I meet with difficulties, failures and even frustrations in my daily life. At home, my dear parents and brothers and sisters will comfort me and cheer me up. And with their concern and encouragement, I will regain my self-confidence and muster up all my strength and courage to face the stern realities of life. To me, home is forever a joy where I can always find love, understanding, care and help.

Friends

People judge us by the company we keep. Therefore, we must be very careful about who we choose for friends. We must not be too hasty in making friends. Friendships made quickly are usually broken off just as quickly. True friendships need time to mature.

A good friend stays with you in good times and bad. Some people are quick to join you for fun, but then avoid you if you're in trouble. A true friend does not. Of course, to have good friends you must first be a good and sincere friend to others.

When I was a little girl

When I was a little girl, I had many wishes, for example, to be a doctor, scientist or teacher. However, now, I have decided that I would like to be a teacher when I grow up. Teaching is a good and interesting profession.

At present, I enjoy teaching my classmates. If they ask me questions, I always try my best to answer them and explain the problems again and gain until they understand. I feel very happy when I have taught them.

Some of my classmates have told me I will be a good teacher in the future. This is my wish.

the blind side

Sandra Bullock plays a steel-willed Memphis belle in "The Blind Side," based on a true story about a well-heeled family that took in a near-homeless, barely schooled African-American boy, Michael Oher (newcomer Quinton Aaron) and and set him on the road to success as a football star. (He now plays for the Baltimore Ravens.)

It would all seem a bit patronizing if it wasn't true. The filmmakers pay lip service to the story's racial undertones without ever really rocking the leaky boat.

Bullock is fun to watch, though. Aaron, who looks to be twice her size, is impressively impassive, and country star Tim McGraw, as Bullock's infinitely accommodating husband, is a natural.

Best performance, minute for minute, comes from Adriane Lenox, whose cameo as Michael's drug-addled mother is the film's standout.

Finding Nemo

The movie Finding Nemo is a strong contrast to today's parenthood. The over-protectiveness of the father can be seen everywhere. Parents want to control their children's life by controlling their education, limiting where the children can go, and trying to shield their children from the harm "out there".

In the movie, Marlin, the father, tries to keep his son, Nemo, close to the corel reef where the corel offers protection. In essense, Marlin is a child who has never left the warmth of home and the protection of others. But curiosity causes Nemo to venture out and become caught. Thus Marlin takes n long adventure to rescue his son. Here, both Marlin and Nemo are on their own they have to grow in a new hostile environment.

In the end, the father understands and lets his son go out in a "school bus". A father cannot just teach his son. He must teach his son how to teach himself.

Recreation

Real recreation is something which not only gives us pleasure, but also heips to renew, or recreate,,, the mind and the body. Therefore, the kind of recreation we engage in is machines take over more of our work. Man now spends fewer hours earning his living than he did fifty or one hundred years ago. THe trend toward shorter working hours continues. Thus man finds himselfwith more and more time of recreation. If he spends this time wisely, he can greatly enrich his life. His recreation can help him to discover new talents, and to improve himself both physically and mentally. Cociety in general reaches a higher level of culture when larhe numbers of person have time to develop their personalities and interests to the fullest possible extent. For this reason, recreation is of social as well as individual importance.

Life

Life is like beautiful and winding lane, on either side brigh flowers, beautiful butterflies, and tempting fruits, which we scarcely pause to admire or taste; so eager are we to hasten to an opening which we imagine will be more beautiful still. But by degrees, as we advance , the trees grow bleak, the flowers and butterflies fail, the fruits disappear, and we find we have arrived at a desert waste. Therefore, while we are wandering down the lane of life, let us stop here and therre and look at the flowers and the butterflies, and let us taste the delicious fruits. After all, what is the hurry?

Cats

Cats are, of course, on good. They are chiselers, panhandlers, and shameless flatterers; they are as full of schemes and plans, wiles and guiles, as an confidence man. They can read your character; they know exactly how much of the hot oil to pour on to break you down. They are definitely smarter than I am, which is one reason I love them.Cat haters will try to present you with the old argument,"If cats are so smart, why can't they do tricks, the dogs do?"It isn't that cats can't do tricks; it's that they won't. They are far too hep to stand up and beg for food when they know you'll give it to them anyway. As for rolling over,, or playing dead, or "speaking,' what can the cat gain that isn't already hers?
